Sustainability
We don't just throw around the S word
We're committed to reducing our impact on the environment, without compromising on the quality or the puns. When you order from us, you're not just signing up for super soft, organic clothing. You're saying no to fast fashion and yes to fair conditions for workers, yes to sustainable production methods and yes to respecting our planet.
Made to order
Made just for you, not for landfill
Globally, the fashion industry produces around 92 million tonnes of textile waste every year. That's why we make every item to order, giving you the freedom to choose your garment and colourway, while keeping waste to a minimum.
Raw materials
What our pieces are made of
Our tees and sweaters are PETA-Approved Vegan and certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, a global standard that tests textiles for harmful substances to make sure they're safe for human health.
Tees
100% organic cotton
Our tees are made from 100% GOTS certified organic cotton, grown without GM seeds or nasty chemicals and sourced from Bangladesh (no sweatshops!). They're super soft and stitched to last.
Sweaters
85% organic cotton, 15% recycled polyester
Our sweaters are made from 85% organic ring-spun combed cotton and 15% recycled polyester, sourced from Bangladesh (no sweatshops!). They're cosy, soft and made to be worn for years.
Bucket hats and caps
Soft cotton corduroy
Our bucket hats are made from 100% organic cotton corduroy, certified to the Organic Content Standard. Our caps are soft, unstructured 100% cotton cord, made to be worn to brunch, festivals and beer gardens for many summers to come.
Shoppers
Heavyweight 100% cotton canvas
Our shoppers are made from a heavy-duty 100% cotton canvas, sturdy enough for six bottles of wine or the weekly shop. The most sustainable bag is the one you use again and again, and these are built to go the distance.
People
Made fairly, stitched with love
Working conditions
We only work with suppliers who share our values. Pretty Pickled is sweatshop free. Our tees and sweaters are made in Bangladesh by a Fair Wear Foundation member, an international organisation working to improve conditions for workers in the textile industry. Fair Wear independently checks their progress every year.
Embroidery
Our items are designed and embroidered in the UK in excellent working conditions and we make sure every member of the team is paid fairly. We use eco embroidery thread made from 100% recycled post-consumer plastic bottles, produced in a factory powered by renewable energy. That means less plastic in the environment and less demand for new plastic to be made.
Packaging
Wrapped without the waste
Every order is packed with as little impact as possible, and absolutely no plastic poly mailers.
Compostable mailers
Your order arrives in a compostable mailing bag made from plant-based starch and PLA, certified to EN13432. It breaks down into water, CO2 and biomass, leaving no plastic behind. Pop it in your home compost where conditions allow, or reuse it thanks to its second peel-and-seal strip.
Acid-free tissue
Your piece is wrapped in acid-free tissue paper, so it arrives looking its best. It's gentle on fabrics, and you can reuse it for gift wrapping or pop it in the compost.
Biodegradable flyer
Every order comes with a little note from us, printed on biodegradable paper. Keep it, pin it up or pop it in the recycling.
Labels and tags
Our garments come with neck labels printed with vegan certified, toxin-free inks, and a swing tag made from 100% recycled uncoated card.
Always room for improvement
We've done our best to bring you quality food and drink embroidered clothing that doesn't cost the earth. But there's always room for improvement! If you've got any suggestions on how we can do things better, we'd absolutely love to hear from you.
